The Process of Nutrition
Straight from the dictionary, Nutrition is the process of nourishing or being nourished, especially the process by which a living organism assimilates food and uses it for growth and for replacement of tissues. In a wide sense it comprehends digestion, absorption, circulation, assimilation, etc., in fact all of the steps by which the nutritive matter of the food is fitted for incorporation with the different tissues, and the changes which it undergoes after its assimilation, prior to its excretion.
Natural Obsessions is very enthusiastic about providing the advice and services needed for you to fully understand and utilize the Process of Nutrition effectively. In fact, we would like to take you to a place in which to live peacefully in a happy, healthy, and holistic manner.
Foremost, what we most want to try to impress upon people is that absolutely every single thing a person absorbs into their bodies and doesn't absorb into them, be it vitamins, minerals, foods, beverages, chemicals (including medications), attitudes, beliefs, etc., it becomes part of their cellular makeup, beneficial or nonbeneficial, overdoing or lacking. That being said, there is nothing mysterious about illness and what causes the body to break down.
However, we must tell you upfront that changing the cellular makeup of your body will not happen overnight or even in a week or a month. We are sorry. We know this is probably not what you want to hear at this point, but it's true. Your cellular makeup did not form overnight and it will not change overnight. But we must emphasize not to challenge yourself. Trust us, challenging yourself will only set you up for failure because shocking your body into something that it isn’t used to will only traumatize it.
Thus, what we recommend is to start out gradually. The major key here is simply to be nice to yourself. For example, if you have decided to quit smoking or to stop drinking coffee, your body is not going to respond nicely to the “cold turkey” treatment (just stopping suddenly). It will most certainly throw a fit and of course will not feel so good. Furthermore, it will not function properly. And you may even feel strange.
So, what do we mean by gradually? Well, we mean just that. Make changes in small increments over time that you can comfortably and realistically handle. Again, be nice to yourself.
If you have to have a soda; try cutting down to having half of a soda. If you have to have a chocolate bar; try having an organic chocolate bar instead. Try waiting 5 more minutes each time you have to have a cigarette. Before you know it, it's 20 minutes, then 25, etc... Finally, the time in between each are longer and longer. And then suddenly, you are only smoking occasionally, your down to a pack every two days. Maybe you will even decide to quit and in turn will stop supporting the tobacco industry. You never know.
What we want you to definitely know and feel for certain is that you are always in control of yourself, nothing controls you but you.
Therefore, please relax, put on some soothing music, enjoy a cup of tea, and make yourself at home. There is quite an array of nutritional information to absorb in this section, especially under Nutritional Advice over in the left column pages mainly because we want to be thorough with the hope that you will discover how beneficial the Process of Nutrition is for balancing your health.
We wish you all great success toward your healthy quests!
Sincerely,
Teresa Martinez Hansberry Nutritional Consultant
